The festive face-off of feathers,
sequins and dancing for the honor of leading
the 27th annual
Carnaval SF Parade, sponsored by Mission Neighborhood Centers, Inc., on
Memorial Day weekend, May 28 – 29, 2005.
There were 14 strong contestants who competed chance to compete in the thrilling
and demanding Carnaval King and Queen Competition, judged by a 10-person
panel of leaders from the Bay Area’s artistic community. Contestants
will be scored in the categories of costume, dance, music, audience
response and Carnaval spirit. The winning pair will receive a cash prize
of $500 each, and will grace the leading float in the Carnaval San
Francisco Grand Parade on Sunday, May 29, which will be broadcast live
on KRON and Telemundo. All are invited to watch and participate in this
spirited evening. Los Ramblers is
the house band and will play as late as necessary as the judges scores
are tabluated by the accountants. DJ Sweetwaist will keep contestants
between 3 & 4 mintutes.
Plenty of surprises as contestents will be scored on audience reaction

Patio Espanol is located at 2850 Alemany in San Francisco (near Geneva);
doors will open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the competition are $15 each at
the door. Children 12 and under are free. For more information, please

Carnaval San Francisco is California’s largest annual multicultural
celebration, showcasing the very best of Latin American and Caribbean
