Chinese New Year Celebration and Parade 
WHEN: Two-week celebration in February
Where: Parade begins at 2nd & Market to San Francisco Chinatown
The biggest and oldest nighttime illuminated parade in North America celebrates Spring in February like most Carnavals. Over 1M can attend. 15 days of music events, street fairs and Miss Chinatown USA pageant. Culminates with largest Asian parade outside of Asia.  Gung Hay Fat Choy! 
The Chinese New Year is based on a lunar calendar, beginning on the new moon and ending on the full moon. There are traditions associated with each of the 15 days of celebration. The 15th day is known as the Lantern Festival and it coincides with the San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade which began in the 1860s. The Lantern is symbolic of bringing in light and warmth to initiate Spring after the dark cold of Winter.

Noise Pop Music Festival
When: One week, late February
Where: Various venues throughout the city in Mission, SOMA, North Beach and Castro.
What started as a small event for fans of distortion now hosts some of the biggest names in music. Despite its growing size, Noisepop is dedicated to remaining to a fan-friendly event.
