Once again the West Indian-American Day Carnival Association and the West Indian community in New York will warmly welcome all Carnival lovers to our 29th Labor Day Carnival parade and as President of the Association, I wish to add my own hearty welcome.
I take this opportunity to also publicly thank Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who has been firm in his support for us. I recognise Governor Pataki's efforts along with those of Brooklyn Borough President Mr. Howard Green, Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer and Public Advocate Mark Green.
The 1996 Parade, is destined to be as big, bright, colourful, exciting and successful as in the years past and this is achieved with the co-operation of the city officials, police, designers, bandleaders, masqueraders, steel and brass bands, calypsonians, DJ's, and the myriad contributors, who participate in this extravaganza.
To you all, the members of the Association and community at large, I say a heartfelt thank you. Have a safe and happy Carnival 1996.
With best wishes
