| "The essential spirit of
Old Comedy is the ordinary man's protest, using his inalienable weapons
of humor and fantasy, against those who are in some way stronger or
better than he is: politicians, generals, artists, intellectuals, even
gods." --Kenneth Dover
At the height of laughter,
the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities. ---Jean

Genuine tragedies in the
world are not conflicts between right and wrong. They are conflicts
between two rights. It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry ---Bob Dylan The real tragedy is the tragedy of the man who never in his life braces himself for his one supreme effort, who never stretches to his full capacity, never stands up to his full stature, ---Arnold Bennet Show me a hero and I will write you a tragedy. ---Francis Scott Fitzgerald The greatest tragedy in mankind's entire history may be the hijacking of morality by religion. ---Arthur C. Clark We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. ---Plato We need
international support so that our people live a life of normality, of
dignity, of liberty and freedom. I hope that our cry for freedom may be
heard. It is a
rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly
obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and
misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant
and revealing fact it is too. I want
to feel passion, I want to feel pain. I want to weep at the sound of
your name. Come make me laugh, come make me cry... just make me feel
alive. Perhaps
travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples
cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we
try and understand each other, we may even become friends. My
great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to
love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.
Instead
of getting hard ourselves and trying to compete, women should try and
give their best qualities to men - bring them softness, teach them how
to cry. I
quickly laugh at everything for fear of having to cry. My duty
is to try to reach beauty. Cinema is emotion. When you laugh you cry.
Immortality: A toy which people cry for, And on their knees apply for,
Dispute, contend and lie for, And if allowed Would be right proud
Eternally to die for.
I cry a
lot. My emotions are very close to my surface. I don't want to hold
anything in so it it festers and turns into pus - a pustule of emotion
that explodes into a festering cesspool of depression. |
