| WHERE
TO STAY (continued) RESERVATION SERVICES |
|
| TIPS: Since everyone is claiming lowest rates you may be wondering how to get the highest rates... most likely by calling the main hotel chain 800 number. You can also get your best or worst deal at the check in desk depending on hotel policy, current occupancy rate and your negotiation tactics. Knowledge and mobility is power. If you will not have web access you can get discount same day hotel coupons at all visitor centers and many gas stations. These are very much subject to whatever the hotel decides day by day so it is good to call ahead before you invest in locating your place to stay. Most of the options are at highway intersections ($29 to $49) but there is a wide selection For special events like Mardi Gras, most hotels will sell out with 5-day minimum stays at much higher rates. Shop early and book at least 90 days in advance.
