The island contains the villages of Velha Boipeba, Moreré and São Sebastião (aka Cova da Onça.) Velha Boipeba hosts the Mother Church of Divino Espírito Santo (from the beginning of the XVII century) and, in São Sebastião, the Church of São Sebastião . Boipeba offers ecological tracks that go through Mata Atlântica. It has a beach that’s good for surfing—called Cueira—another one that’s fine for snorkeling—known as Ponta de Castelhanos—and a third one that’s excellent for fishing—by the name of Cova da Onça. Access between beaches is by boat, or by foot, the latter only when tides are low. The island has only one small inn, located on Tassimirim Beach (or Praia Primeira, First Beach). Barra do Carvalho
